[ in a few minutes he's out like a light and if zhongli needs to move he can easily move childe elsewhere. he's exhausted too, or perhaps just the comfort of being nestled this close to zhongli had something to do with it... or both! ]
[ Childe is going to awaken still in Zhongli's lap. Though Zhongli has moved during the night, draping blankets around his shoulders and bracing pillows up against the pod bed so he can sleep propped up next to it. ]
[ rubs at his eyes and stares up at zhongli. ] ...this can't be comfortable. [ peers through the darkness at the remaining pillows and blankets and then eyes the door. hm. maybe he can build zhongli a nest... looks back up at him to see if he's sleeping. ]
[ ...! it's time to raid heart soldier senshi of all it's spare pillows and blankets. this probably takes him A WHILE, because he's an idiot and remains a fox throughout the entire thing, but eventually he's got everything PILED into zhongli's room. making the nest takes even more time, but at some point he's back in zhongli's lap and gently bapping his face with his paw. ]
Xiansheng. Wake up. [ so we can... go back to sleep. gg childe. ] I made a nest for us.
[ Still half asleep, he brushes away whatever is touching his face, grumbling something under his breath, as he re-crosses his arms and settles back against the pod bed. ]
[ moves out of zhongli’s lap and changes back to normal, reaching to brush at his bangs. ] Xiansheng. Who knew that when you finally could sleep you’d be out like a light... [ he chuckles to himself, framing his face with his hand as he smiles. ]
I guess if you’re going to be stubborn. [ he sits back and stares at zhongli for a few moments before chewing on his lip and then, to hell with it, he’s sleeping so it’s fine. he drops a kiss on his forehead and then hurtles himself backward into the nest. ]
[ Then sometime in the middle of the night (depending on how light of a sleeper is), he'll feel Zhongli move to lay down beside him. He pulls any fallen blankets up and over Childe's shoulders before doing the same for himself. ]
[ he’s normally a light sleeper, but between being exhausted and getting a concussions he’s definitely more out than in. however, as zhongli moves in beside him he does inch closer to him; intent on stealing all of his warmth! ]
[ That's probably for the best considering Childe's head injury. And since Zhongli has no where else to be, he just stays in the blanket pile until Childe wakes up. Flustered with what to do with his own hands, he casually(?) tries to drape one over Childe's waist but otherwise refrains from touching.
Honestly, it's probably the most comfortable night sleep he's gotten since he arrived in Imeeji. ]
[ and this is definitely the best sleep he’s gotten in a long time. back in liyue he generally slept with one eye open... just in case. it’s no secret that people hated the fatui. ]
[ he starts to stir, groaning into a pillow and blinking the sleep out of his eyes. he’s surprised to see zhongli laying across from him, but he’ll certainly not be making any complaints. ] ...glad you decided to lay down too. [ blurts out, giving a sheepish smile as he starts to sit up - at least until he realizes zhongli’s got an arm draped over him. ]
I’m feeling alright... better, definitely. Thanks to you, Xiansheng. [ sinks back down. ] I’ll take them in just a little bit... for now I’d just like to stay like this.
Have you ever gambled with Boss at the Jade Mystery in Chihu Rock? The game was very similar to that. There were 20 boxes available of which we were to choose one. But instead of random qualities of jade being stored in the box, there were punishments ranging from leaving the game unharmed to death.
As the rounds wore on and more punishments were eliminated, the host would come to offer you a deal in place of what was in the mystery box. Being electrocuted for example. Or needles - though the description of that one was not all the specific.
If you did not take his deal, you were left with the punishment that was in the original box you had chosen.
Did this game have a Host? [ because he's going to fucken kill them. as he tries to keep his anger from boiling over he scoots closer and sets a hand on zhongli's shoulder. ]

I assure you that I am all right. Thank you for looking out for me.
[ He taps one finger restlessly against Childe's waist perhaps unaware that he is even doing it. ]
But I will tell you about the game if you wish to hear of it.
