While I did fight for the people in Liyue in that regard, I was not expecting to be the one to take the position of the Geo Archon. I suppose you could say I was best suited at the end - with those who would be better equipped for it fell during the war.

...ah, su- [ oh, he's drinking. childe smiles and leans into him. ] Really? I don't think I could see anybody else as the Geo Archon. [ but, then again, childe doesn't know much of the liyue lore. ] ...ah. [ he's sure there might have been other candidates, but zhongli did a great job with liyue, and he's not sure anybody else could have been as good as the god of contracts, but perhaps he's just biased. ]

Of course. It's because that is the only reality we know. But as is evident by this place, there are endless possibilities out there.

[ He takes another sip again, because why not, before setting his drink aside. ]

...yeah, that's... true. It's kind of weird to think that there are all of these other possibilities out there. Like, [ he pauses for a moment, almost hesitating before he goes on. ] maybe there's one where I didn't fall into the abyss. [ and never became a harbinger and, thus, never went to liyue to meet zhongli. ] Everything could be so different...

Zhongli Xiansheng. [ he turns, setting a hand on his shoulder to give his cheek a kiss. ] It was fine. Not all of the truths and lies have to be related to me... unless you'd like to spoil me some more.

...even if the bad shit happens to me it still affects you. Having to pick up the pieces and just deal with all the fallout isn't always a walk in the park. There are no real winners here.
