Not the gifts you give or the endless flattery. Not the affection or the outings. Though all of those are nice and I adore them.

And if that all comes packaged together in a neat little bow…. [ kisses him softly. ] But that’s very sweet of you to say, Xiansheng, and it means a lot besides.

And on my day of birth, I will gladly indulge in the entire package.

[ And he leans up to place a kiss on his forehead ]

I just want you to remember that you do not have to perform to earn or keep my fondness. It is there for you simply because you are Ajax.

[ his tails all fluff up and he moves them to surround zhongli. HE GETS CONSUMED IN WHITE FUR. ] I'll remember. But I do like turning tricks [ lol. ] for you, Xiansheng. You do enjoy being spoiled, right, [ he reaches for his horns, stroking each of them from base to tip. ] my Geo Dragon. [ and he'll kiss him right after. ] I do love seeing the way your eyes shine when I shower you with gifts.

[ Childe cannot put all of his tails in that close of proximity and also stroke his horns. That is cheating, sir. CHEATING.

Zhongli's eyes go half-lidded with a rumble of approval as his horns are stroked, butting them into Childe's hand for more pets. ]

I do enjoy being spoiled.

It's quite the novelty - leaving things in someone else's care.

[ cheating!!! he continues letting them, turning the edge of his nails inward to gently scrape against them as he continues with each languid stroke. ] You took care of Liyue for over three thousand years, Xiansheng, so let me take care of you.

[ He shivers pleasantly with each touch, eventually trying to tumble them both of them down to the cushions so he can look up at Childe.

(Being careful of the boxes of course). ]

Let's start with the -ack! [ and back they go! childe chuckles, moving his hands to cup his cheeks, so he can take a kiss. ] How about we start with the cake?

[ He turns his head, not letting go of Childe as he considers those 6,002 candles. ]

Please do not cause harm to this place with it. Or yourself.

I am rather fond of both.

I couldn't fit them all on! so let's not bother with the rest. [ it might take an eternity to get them on there anyway. sorrynotsorry. ] We can just work with what we've got, but... [ looks around, because there's a lot of flammable stuff inside. ] let's take care of this outside. Juuuust in case. [ grabs a lighter. ]

[ Zhongli fusses and grumbles and clings for a few seconds like the spoiled brat he can be. Childe warm and here. Outside less warm and cuddly.

But he does extract himself eventually to pick up the cake very carefully and attempt to take it outside. He will leave Childe to light the candles. ]

Don't worry. It's not going to take long. [ and he'll wrap an arm around zhongli and fluff up his tails. ] I'll make sure you stay niiiice and warm. [ sticks real~ close, turning his head to kiss his cheek as he starts to sing happy birthday in snezhnayan. lights the candles as he does so, though only a few. ]

Well, that is much kinder than the Snezhnayan pinky promise.

[ And as soon as the candles are light. ]

Is it also Snezhnaya tradition that one makes a wish when blowing out candles?

[ cheekily, ] Only if you share it right after.

I can agree to that contract.

[ And he expertly blows out the lit candles. ]

[childeishly]

[ leans across the cake as the smoke clears to give him a birthday kiss. ] So, Zhongli, what's your wish?

I wish to see your beautiful smile.

[childeishly]

Hasn’t it been beautiful all night? I’ve had about a thousand reasons to smile tonight, Xiansheng, and all of them you.

A charmer and unapologetically so.

But that is my wish. How fortuitous that it was granted almost immediately.
