[ he tries to keep his cool, giving zhongli a confident smile, but there are dozens of sirens and warning bells going off in his head. he’s good, okay at best, really, so he probably shouldn’t try, but… he wants to show zhongli just how much he’s improved, and clearly one instance of doing so wasn’t enough. ]
Sure. [ he reaches for a dumpling, managing to grab it, but he’s quick to bring his other hand beneath it, so he doesn’t spoil their date by sprinkling zhongli in bits of food. ] Here, Xiansheng. [ his chopsticks shake a little, threatening to drop the morsel, but he holds fast. ] Enjoy.
[ Zhongli carefully tilts his head to adjust for the slight wobble in Childe's grip but manages to capture the dumpling in his mouth. He chews it thoughtfully before swallowing it down. ]
Exquisite.
The added romantic flair of being fed by one's partner really does add to the experience.
... [ clears his throat as he lifts his eyes back to zhongli's. ]
[ childe considers saying something in response, but, instead, just leans in to join their lips together for a savory kiss. ] All the more reason to get better then. [ not that he really needed another reason, but the additional motivation couldn't hurt. ]
[ It's terribly inappropriate - he thinks - to interrupt Childe's gracious dinner plans with too much distraction.
But when Childe pulls back from the kiss, Zhongli responds by leaning forward and capturing his lips again. Tongue tracing across his bottom lip until not a speck of sauce or anything else remains. ]
[ sir, sir, you're making it real hard to want to continue eating. ]
[ he looks to his meal for a half a second and then swiftly reaches for zhongli's face, nearly falling out of his chair to do so, but he seemingly doesn't care. he kisses hims again, edging on desperate, as his other hand grabs for his chair - a way to steady himself. ]
Another time. [ he doesn't care about that right now. all he cares about is zhongli. ] I just need you right now, Zhongli Xiansheng.
[ Knock knock on BARiTONES door, perhaps a little awkward because normally he would bring a gift for the host but he has negative ideas on what would be appropriate in this setting or for the recipient. ]
[ BETTER NOTHING THAN RISK SETTING HIM OFF!! And just as he said, he's waiting for him, so he lets him inside shortly after he knocks, leading him to the living room area where he already prepared their cups ]
There you are. You look the same as you did when you left.
[ he immediately wants to shoot back that it's not a peace offering, but it is, and denying it won't really do him any favors. So he's quiet for a moment, crossing his arms at his chest as he looks at Zhongli ]
... Tartaglia was heartbroken when you left. Not just because you weren't here, but because he wasn't sure he'd find the same version of you waiting for him home. Even telling him we could just travel to all versions of Teyvat until we found you wasn't enough to console him.
It was really annoying. I enjoyed being his sole focus for a little while but I understand that's not what he wants. Things would go a lot better if I didn't hate you, and you're not her. So I could at least give you a chance.
Oh that gives him quite the pause. Add that to the list of things he never thought about because he never once considered the Tartaglia here to not be his. ]
Before we go any further, I wish to thank you for thinking of his happiness even before your own. Such admissions can be difficult to ourselves and even moreso in front of others.
And for that, I will ask what do you wish of me to prove that I am deserving of such a chance.
